If you live in any of the counties of Wasco, Jefferson, Sherman, Gilliam, Grant, Wheeler or the northwest part of Deschutes, you’ve got a new representative today:

THE DALLES, Ore. (AP) — Former radio station manager John Huffman will finish the term of a state representative from northern Oregon.

He was among three nominated by the Republican Central Committee members from the nine counties in House District 59.HD 59

In a telephone meeting Monday, the county commissioners from the region selected him over a City Council member from Madras and a lawyer from The Dalles.

House District 59 includes all of five counties and parts of four others.

Huffman succeeds John Dallum, who resigned to become a school superintendent in western Montana.

There are 16 months remaining in the term, including a brief session of the Legislature early next year.

So there’ll be another ‘H’ in the lineup of House members:  Hanna, Holvey, Huffman, Hunt.  At least it’s easier to say than ‘Representative Van Valkenburgh‘…
