If you live in any of the counties of Wasco, Jefferson, Sherman, Gilliam, Grant, Wheeler or the northwest part of Deschutes, you’ve got a new representative today:
THE DALLES, Ore. (AP) — Former radio station manager John Huffman will finish the term of a state representative from northern Oregon.
He was among three nominated by the Republican Central Committee members from the nine counties in House District 59.
In a telephone meeting Monday, the county commissioners from the region selected him over a City Council member from Madras and a lawyer from The Dalles.
House District 59 includes all of five counties and parts of four others.
Huffman succeeds John Dallum, who resigned to become a school superintendent in western Montana.
There are 16 months remaining in the term, including a brief session of the Legislature early next year.
So there’ll be another ‘H’ in the lineup of House members: Hanna, Holvey, Huffman, Hunt. At least it’s easier to say than ‘Representative Van Valkenburgh‘…
